In the last two years, we have noticed that many people buy 1 GB plan but hardly use the space and bandwidth. Whereas, there are a small number of people who exceed the 1 GB limit and purchase 2 GB plan.

We thought, if only the space could be used more effectively as in a real world buffet plan, all could enjoy the space they need for a reasonable cost. So, we are providing a 2 GB plan now for 750 INR. This is a 25% reduction from earlier pricing of 1000 INR for 2 GB.

All users will be provided with 1 GB to start with and every month the spacing will be revised based on their usage. In case, you need additional space just shoot us a mail and we will increase it at once.

Update on Feb 13, 2012:

I am seriously getting disappointed with Hostgator India now for the following reasons:

1. One of my test sites hosted with them is getting repeatedly hacked. This has not happened with 100s of sites I have with Hostgator US.

2. The customer service is pathetic unlike Hostgator US support which I am a fan of. They mostly seem to help from a script and do not hear to our problems unless we repatedly and forcefully say what the problem is.

3. One of my most important revenue generating sites got wiped out completely for 36 hours before I took notice and got them restored. This has never happened with any of the hosts I had.

4. One of my sites is not accessible from various locations and they are unable to help me resolve it.

5. I am starting to see slow speeds both in front end and WordPress back end besides being fresh installs and heavily optimised for performance already.

So far I have been using Hostgator India only for my personal projects. Now, I am getting concerned that I should not provide this server for my clients. I will watch them for sometime. If they continue to suck, I will make a move to Hostgator US. One of my friends who is very experienced with Hosting industry says, none of the India based hosting companies are reliable enough due to poor infrastructure in India. Any comments?

Well, that was what I wanted it to be

I got bored with seeing template design hosting websites with stock photos and confusing plans. I know many such sites are only reselling services run by one person. So why not tell that? I read an interesting business advise post somewhere that if you are a one man / small business better tell it clearly.

Being a startup service, I feel people will trust me / Hostgator more than a silly web design template I have. I started this service with selling to friends and web design clients. Now even people from web search have started buying. So, definitely this design is not bad May be when Milk Host grows, I will need to make the site more self-functioning and real time. Then, I can also experiment on different interfaces.

Have you seen any other sites like this? Though not exactly like this, I like the personal touch that Dream Host has . What is your view on the site’s simple interface? What more features, info can we add?

P.S: Milk Host is growing but definitely not one man show So, don’t worry about your sites being dependent on one man

So, how did I choose this name? What is the meaning behind it?

I wanted a unique, short and easy to remember name. After trying many names that came to my mind at random, found the name MilkHost.com available. Now I started wondering about the meaning I have followed this way of naming for many of my sites including Maatru.net

Milk is safe, pure, simple, fair price, essential, readily available and people buy only what they need. They don’t stock barrels of milk. So, why not a hosting service be like that? As simple as milk to buy and consume.

Thus began the story of Milk Host
